Postseason baseball is coming back to Baum-Walker Stadium. The NCAA announced Sunday night that Arkansas will be one of 16 regional hosts for the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament.
The full four-team bracket for each regional will be revealed during the NCAA Tournament selection show on Monday at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.
Arkansas, currently holding a 43-13 record, is expected to be among the top 8 national seeds. This would give the Razorbacks the right to host a super regional if they win their regional round. As of Sunday, Arkansas had the fifth-best RPI in the country, the 14th-toughest strength of schedule, and a 14-10 record in games against top-tier teams (known as Quad 1 games).
Head coach Dave Van Horn believes the team has earned a top 8 spot. After a win over Tennessee on May 17, he said, “Twenty wins in our league. That’s probably the main thing.”
Arkansas has been dominant at home, posting a 32-4 record at Baum-Walker Stadium during the regular season. Their .889 home winning percentage is tied for the best among all regional hosts, matched only by Coastal Carolina’s 24-3 mark. Western Kentucky had an even better home percentage at .909 (30-3), but the Hilltoppers were not selected to host.
Van Horn credited home-field advantage and fan support for the team’s success. “I just feel like home games, we played well here,” he said. “The crowds were good. The weather was not good at the beginning [but] it’s been great lately. Our guys are comfortable here, and we field the ball. We don’t make a lot of errors.”
After a home series loss to Texas A&M in mid-April, Arkansas bounced back with a 7-1 finish at home. That stretch included a sweep of SEC regular-season champion Texas and a series win over Tennessee. The team also recorded two midweek shutouts over Little Rock, which recently won the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament and might be placed in the Fayetteville regional.
“Conventional wisdom says that if we make a regional, we probably get sent to Fayetteville,” said Little Rock head coach Chris Curry in April.
Seven other SEC teams — LSU, Texas, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Auburn — were also selected to host regionals starting Friday.
Other regional hosts include North Carolina, Florida State, and Clemson from the ACC; Oregon and UCLA from the Big Ten; Coastal Carolina and Southern Miss from the Sun Belt; and Oregon State, now competing independently after the Pac-12 breakup.
This marks the 12th time since 1999 that Arkansas will host a regional. It’s their third straight year and seventh since 2017. The Razorbacks have advanced out of their home regional five times but fell short in 2023 and 2024, losing to TCU and Kansas State, respectively.
Arkansas last won its home regional in 2021, defeating Nebraska. The team also won a road regional at Oklahoma State in 2022 and went on to reach the College World Series semifinals.
