“The vehicle was halted promptly, and the suspect taken into custody. We’re continuing to investigate the circumstances, but there is no evidence to suggest this was a terror-related event,” Sims said.

Leaders and League Express Concern

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer responded to the events in a statement, calling the scenes in Liverpool “appalling” and extending his thoughts to the victims and their families.

“My thoughts are with all those injured or affected,” Starmer said.

The Premier League also issued a statement, expressing shock and sadness over the incident:

“Our heartfelt thoughts go out to all those injured and affected.”

The Liverpool community, known for its strong football culture and passionate fans, was left reeling in the wake of what was meant to be a moment of pride and unity.

Authorities continue to investigate the driver’s motives and the exact cause of the incident. Police have asked witnesses and anyone with video footage to come forward.
