The BWF World Tour continues its Asian leg with the KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2025, a prestigious Super 750 tournament starting tomorrow. Following a Super 300 and two Super 500 events, the competition intensifies this week, attracting many of the world’s top players. Europe is also strongly represented across all disciplines.
In the men’s singles draw, the tournament opens with a high-profile European match as third seed Anders Antonsen takes on Christo Popov. Another headline matchup features eighth seed Alex Lanier going up against local favorite Loh Kean Yew of Singapore.
If results align, five of the six European men in the draw could face each other again in the round of 16, making for a competitive early bracket.
In women’s singles, Europe’s hopes rest on Line Kjærsfeldt, Polina Buhrova, and Kirsty Gilmour. The draw, however, poses challenges from the start. Buhrova faces fourth seed Akane Yamaguchi, while Gilmour is set to meet Thai star Ratchanok Intanon in the opening round.
In men’s doubles, Europe has six pairs competing. Leading the charge are top seeds Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, who could meet fellow Europeans Ben Lane and Sean Vendy in the round of 16, provided both teams advance past the first round.
The women’s doubles field includes three European pairs: Julie Macpherson/Ciara Torrance, Paulina Hankiewicz/Kornelia Marczak, and the Ukrainian team of Polina Buhrova and Yevheniia Kantemyr.
Kantemyr will also compete in mixed doubles alongside Oleksii Titov. Other European contenders in this category include Mads Vestergaard/Christine Busch, eighth seeds Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue – who open against Japan’s strong duo Yuta Watanabe/Misaki Matsutomo – Alexander Dunn/Julie Macpherson, and fifth seeds Jesper Toft/Amalie Magelund.
With intense matchups and high stakes across the board, the Singapore Badminton Open promises an exciting week of world-class badminton.
