A Lifelong Friendship Transforms into a Shared Vision

“We’ve lived through so much together since we were young, sharing experiences at the highest level of football,” Suárez said in the announcement. “That’s why today I want to introduce a friend and teammate with whom I share a similar vision from our early days.”

Lionel Messi, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, responded with heartfelt excitement:
“It’s an honor to be involved in this with you. I hope I can contribute in every way to help it grow.”

From Family Idea to Full-Fledged Club

Suárez explained that the concept for Deportivo LSM began in 2018 as a family-driven initiative. Today, the club boasts over 3,000 members, along with a robust infrastructure that includes a modern sports complex and training facilities for boys, girls, and teenagers.

The club plans to compete within the structure of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF), fielding teams at both youth and professional levels. But beyond competition, Suárez stressed the club’s broader mission:
“This is about athletic development and building strong community bonds, with families at the center of everything we do.”

The Suárez Complex: A Foundation for Growth

Deportivo LSM will be based at the Suárez Complex, located in Ciudad de la Costa in the Canelones department, just 20 kilometers from Montevideo. The facility, owned by Suárez, underwent major renovations in 2022 to become a hub for football development in the region.

“I always emphasize the importance of family because there’s nothing better than sharing all of this with them,” Suárez added, highlighting that the initiative is as much about legacy as it is about sport.
