In the women’s final, two-time Olympian and Paris 2024 bronze medallist Tanja Hüberli teamed up with 19-year-old Leona Kernen to defeat fellow Swiss duo Anouk Verge-Depre and her sister Zoe Verge-Depre in straight sets, 21-15, 21-15. This victory marked Hüberli and Kernen’s first Beach Pro Tour gold as a team and their second medal overall, following a silver at the Yucatan Challenge earlier this year. They dominated the tournament, winning all five matches in straight sets.

Both Swiss national teams are benefiting from coaching support through the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program. So far, Swiss Volley has received CHF 288,000 to fund top-tier coaching staff, including Damian Wojtasik for the women’s teams and Philip Gabathuler for the men’s. Germany’s program has received CHF 144,000, with Fabian Tobias serving as National Coach for Science.

The Spiez tournament featured 28 men’s and 28 women’s teams from 18 countries. The next Beach Pro Tour Futures stop is set for Battipaglia, Italy, from May 29 to June 1.
