USTA Florida has named Peter Adler its May Volunteer of the Month in recognition of his outstanding service to youth tennis and disabled veterans in the Tampa area.
A dedicated coach and mentor, Adler recently completed his fourth season leading a Hillsborough County USTA Junior Team Tennis squad for players 14 and under. This spring, his Temple Terrace team finished first in the league—a testament to his guidance and the positive environment he fosters.
Adler says coaching allows him to give back and witness young players grow in both skill and character. “It’s extremely rewarding investing in others,” he said. “You definitely get back more from volunteering than you ever give, and your investment can make a difference not only now, but for future generations.”
Beyond coaching young athletes, Adler also supports families who are new to junior tennis. He has helped parents learn how to be respectful spectators and navigate the emotional challenges of youth competition. “I consider Junior Team Tennis an important part of helping me fulfill my calling as a professional coach,” he said.
Adler’s passion for service extends to another important group—U.S. military veterans. For the past two years, he has volunteered with a program offering tennis lessons to veterans with disabilities. He teaches bi-weekly classes and says the experience is deeply meaningful.
“They’ve sacrificed so much for me, that when I had the opportunity to show my appreciation through teaching a tennis class, my yes was immediately on the table,” Adler said. “I’ve seen how the game of tennis can provide great encouragement for veterans.”
USTA Florida applauds Adler for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to making tennis accessible and uplifting for all.
