Gators Add Pablo Perez Ramos and Andreas Timini to Boost 2025 Roster

Florida tennis, under head coach Adam Steinberg, experienced another quiet year in 2024-25, finishing with a 15-12 record. The Gators’ performance failed to generate a strong postseason push, leaving questions about the team’s future heading into the next season.

In an effort to strengthen the roster and replace the loss of senior JanMagnus Johnson, Florida has added two promising players through the transfer portal. The Gators have signed rising senior Pablo Perez Ramos and incoming freshman Andreas Timini, both of whom are expected to make an immediate impact.

Pablo Perez Ramos: A Proven Winner

Pablo Perez Ramos comes to Florida from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where he spent four successful years as the team captain. Originally from the Canary Islands, Spain, Perez Ramos compiled an impressive 71-21 record during his time at NJIT, earning accolades like NJIT Male Athlete of the Year and Southland Tournament MVP.

After recovering from an injury in his first season, Perez Ramos returned to dominate in 2024 with an 18-2 record, followed by a 13-1 mark in 2025. He also excelled in doubles, going 13-2 in court one doubles matches in his final season. Florida will be hoping that Perez Ramos can bring his leadership and experience to bolster its lineup in 2025.

Andreas Timini: A Rising Star

Andreas Timini, an 18-year-old from Cyprus, joins Florida with a wealth of international experience in the ITF Junior Circuit. Timini has built a strong junior career, recording a 25-17 record and capturing six singles titles. In 2022, he won four international junior titles before adding victories at the J200 Hammamet and J200 Valencia tournaments in early 2024.

Timini’s success was reflected in his rankings. After earning a career-high ITF Junior Ranking of No. 41, he has shown promise in professional play as well, with the ATP ranking him No. 1286 in singles and No. 1126 in doubles. Timini has also competed in three major Grand Slam tournaments—US Open, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon—gaining valuable experience on the biggest stages in tennis.

In addition to his junior success, Timini was selected to represent Cyprus in the 2025 Davis Cup. In January, he helped Cyprus secure a dominant 4-0 victory over Thailand, winning his match 6-3, 6-3. Cyprus is now ranked No. 65 and will face Monaco in the 2025 World Group II competition.

A New Chapter for Florida Tennis

With the addition of Perez Ramos and Timini, Florida looks to reassert itself as a force in the Southeastern Conference. The new signings bring a wealth of experience and talent to a team looking to rise to the top of the conference once again. The Gators will rely on these two players to help lead the way as they prepare for a competitive 2025 season.
