Mexican basketball prodigy Karim López has taken another significant step in his career by signing a sponsorship sneaker deal with a major brand specializing in basketball gear.
The 18-year-old forward’s new partnership with the athletic brand marks a milestone in his journey to becoming one of the top players in international basketball. It also reinforces his growing reputation as a future NBA prospect, with eyes already on him for the 2026 NBA Draft.
At 6’8″ (2.03m), López has quickly emerged as a standout player for Mexico’s national team. He made a memorable debut at the 2022 U15 Centrobasket Championship, averaging 15.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game while earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. He continued to shine in 2023 at the FIBA U16 AmeriCup, where he led the tournament with 20.5 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. His rise continued in 2024, making his debut with Mexico’s senior national team during the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, and contributing to the team’s success during the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 Qualifiers in 2025.
Currently playing for the New Zealand Breakers in the NBL (National Basketball League) as part of the Next Stars program, López is competing at a high level in Australia’s premier basketball league. In the recent season, he averaged 9.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 23.4 minutes per game, showcasing his growing talent. Before his move to the NBL, he developed through Spain’s prestigious Joventut Badalona youth system.
López’s impressive performances have caught the attention of NBA scouts, with many projecting him as a potential Top 10 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. His recent sponsorship deal further solidifies his rising status as one of the top international prospects in basketball.
