The Elon University women’s tennis team has named Allie Gretkowski as its new assistant coach. Head coach Elizabeth Anderson announced the addition, highlighting Gretkowski’s strong playing background and experience at the Division I level.
Before joining Elon, Gretkowski played for both South Carolina and Louisville. While at South Carolina, she played as high as the No. 3 singles position. She was especially successful in doubles, going undefeated at the No. 3 spot with a perfect 12-0 record. She also reached a national doubles ranking of No. 37.
At Louisville, Gretkowski completed her college playing career as a redshirt senior. She recorded a 13-5 singles record with notable wins over strong ACC teams, including Florida State, Clemson, and Syracuse. She ended the season with a four-match win streak. In doubles, she went 11-9 overall, including a 6-4 mark with partner Alice Otis. The duo claimed wins over Virginia Tech and Florida State.
Gretkowski was one of the top junior players in the country. TennisRecruiting.net ranked her No. 1 in South Carolina and No. 12 nationally during high school. In 2017, she was named South Carolina USTA Player of the Year. She won the doubles title at the prestigious Eddie Herr ITF Championships in 2018 and earned back-to-back ITF doubles titles in Atlanta in 2018 and 2019.
Her other junior highlights include being a doubles finalist in the 16s division at the 2018 Orange Bowl and a finalist in the 18s division at the 2018 USTA Winter Nationals. She also reached the singles final at a J4 ITF event in Lexington, S.C., and was a semifinalist at a J3 tournament in San Jose, Calif., in 2019.
Gretkowski graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Sport Administration.
