Football fans attending the Romania vs. Cyprus match on June 10 at the National Arena in Bucharest are being encouraged to bring old electronic devices to the stadium as part of a new environmental initiative.
Supporters can recycle items like phones, chargers, headphones, and other small electronics at special collection points near the stadium entrances.
In return, each participant will receive a free ticket to the UEFA EURO U19 final tournament. They will also be entered into a prize raffle, with rewards including a tablet, two smartphones, three sets of headphones, and three Romania national team jerseys. The winners will be announced during halftime on the stadium’s main screen.
The campaign is called “The Nature of Common Sense, at Grassroots Level” and is organized by the Environ Association and the Romanian Football Federation, in partnership with the National Arena.
The Environ Association, founded in 2007, manages the collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in Romania. The organization has set up more than 4,000 collection points nationwide and has gathered over 250,000 tons of electronic waste in the past 18 years.
The campaign aims to promote recycling and responsible behavior among football fans, using the power of sport to inspire environmental action.
