Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini are the new Roland-Garros women’s doubles champions. The Italian pair defeated Aleksandra Krunic (Serbia) and Anna Danilina (Kazakhstan) in a dramatic three-set final in Paris.
Errani and Paolini took the opening set 6-4 but stumbled in the second, losing 2-6 as their opponents raised their level. However, the Italians came back strong in the deciding set, dominating from start to finish.
With two early breaks and consistent serving, Errani and Paolini surged to a 5-0 lead before closing out the final set 6-1, securing the championship in style.
This is their second title in a row after winning the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome. It’s also sweet revenge for the Italian team, who lost in last year’s final to Katerina Siniakova and Coco Gauff.
The victory adds to Errani’s impressive record, bringing her total to 34 doubles titles, including six Grand Slam doubles wins. She previously won the French Open in 2012, the US Open later that year, the Australian Open in 2013 and 2014, and Wimbledon in 2014—each alongside former partner Roberta Vinci.
For Paolini, the win marks her first Grand Slam doubles title. It was a memorable tournament for her, as she also won the mixed doubles crown with fellow Italian Andrea Vavassori.
The duo’s performance on the clay of Roland-Garros confirms their status as one of the strongest partnerships on the women’s tour. With Olympic gold already in hand from Paris 2024, this latest victory further cements their legacy in Italian tennis.
