Murray State baseball overcame a Game 1 loss in the Durham Super Regional to earn its first-ever trip to the College World Series. The Racers edged out Duke 5-4 on Monday, making history as they became the fourth No. 4 seed to reach the CWS, joining Oral Roberts, Stony Brook, and Fresno State.
Leadoff hitter Jonathan Hogart was a standout performer, going 2-for-5 with two solo home runs. Murray State also hit a total of three home runs in the game, with Luke Mistone adding another solo shot. The team finished with 10 hits overall.
With the win, Murray State became the eighth and final team to secure a spot in the CWS. They will face No. 15 UCLA in the first round on Saturday.
