Former UC Davis volleyball standout Olivia Utterback has signed a professional contract with ASP Thetis, a top-tier volleyball club in Greece’s Volley League 1st Division, the country’s highest-level competition.
UC Davis head coach Dan Conners expressed his excitement for Utterback’s next chapter, saying, “I’m thrilled for Olivia to continue her volleyball journey at the professional level. She’s an incredibly well-rounded player, and her ability to perform all skills at a high level will make her a strong fit for international volleyball. With the six-rotation play required, Olivia will adapt well, and I expect her to make an immediate impact at her new club.”
Founded in 2000, ASP Thetis has quickly risen to prominence in Greek volleyball, finishing first in the Greek 2nd Division during the 2017-18 season and earning promotion to the 1st Division, where they remain among the country’s top clubs.
Utterback, who hails from Plainfield, Indiana, made a lasting mark at UC Davis, becoming one of the best players in program history. She finished her collegiate career with the fifth most kills (1,296) and second most service aces (151) in UC Davis history. She is also one of only 12 players to record over 1,000 career kills.
Throughout her career, Utterback earned numerous individual accolades, including two-time First Team All-Big West honors (2021, 2024), a Second Team All-Big West selection (2023), and Big West Honorable Mention (2022). In addition, she was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team (2021) and received an American Volleyball Coaches Association Pacific All-Region Honorable Mention in 2024.
Her leadership both on and off the court helped UC Davis achieve one of its best seasons in 2024, with the team securing 13 conference victories and advancing to the Big West Semifinals.
As Olivia embarks on this exciting new chapter with ASP Thetis, the entire Aggie family wishes her the best of luck in her professional volleyball career.
